Why I’m Quitting Online Scheduling

Online scheduling is a great idea in theory for a busy acupuncture clinic. In practice, however, it has not worked well for Acupuncture Works, so for now, we will be removing it as an option by May 20, 2016. First of all, although several people asked for an online booking method, very few people have used it. Maybe 1% of the clinic's bookings have been through the online system. Unfortunately, 100% of that 1% of bookings have had to be changed as a result of causing a double-booking situation or another time-related scheduling problem. When the appointments that were made in other ways -- by phone call, text message to my cell phone, or in person -- are recorded, these times are manually blocked out of the online system far in advance. It seems like the day that I need to go into system and block again for the upcoming month, there may be a small lapse of time that was not blocked, and someone will inevitably sign up online for a very popular appointment time, like a Saturday morning at 11 am, that is almost never available. In addition, I like to have some communication with new patients before the appointment is made, so that I will have a feel for whether I can be of help or not. For all of the above and other reasons, I apologize in advance for the people who may be adversely affected by this. Thank you for understanding. I tried it, but it just did not work for me. Under different circumstances, an online booking option may be revisited in the future. To make up for it, the office number, 404-949-0550, is available (as of April 24, 2016) for text messages.
